about my work
My work primarily involves conducting extensive field research on reptiles and amphibians, mainly in Northern Botswana. During these explorations, I meticulously document the location and any unusual behaviors of each species encountered. This crucial work contributes significantly to filling distribution gaps and enhancing our understanding of these creatures' behavior’s. In addition to this, I also study the surrounding vegetation to uncover potential symbiotic relationships between Botswana's herpetofauna and plant life, including the impact of habitat changes.
I also confirm current distributions and range extensions for Botswana's reptiles and amphibians. By documenting where these species are found, I help to build a clearer picture of their geographic spread, which is essential for understanding their ecology and conservation needs. This information contributes to national biodiversity records and helps identify areas of high species richness. Each new record or range extension refines our knowledge of these animals’ habitats, ultimately supporting more informed management and protection strategies.
Furthermore, my photographs are available for purchase on this website, with all proceeds being channeled towards their conservation. In line with my commitment to herpetofauna education and conservation, I offer a complimentary identification service for any unfamiliar snake species you may encounter. Simply forward a clear photograph via Instagram, WhatsApp, or email and I will promptly respond with its identification. Furthermore, I provide a free snake identification course for those keen on broadening their understanding of these fascinating creatures.
